Big Sur Marathon
On May 29, 2011, Capt. Joseph W. Schultz was killed in action in Afghanistan. After we took time away from our daily routine to remember Joe’s contribution, we spoke about what annual event best embodies Joe’s dedication, humor, friendship and spirit.
We chose Big Sur as our original marathon location as we recalled the words of Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez, Joe was a true Son of California. We will remember his sacrifice on the shores of his native state’s most pristine and legendary stretch of coastline.
